How to Fix Lovable Build Errors
Red error cards are part of building with AI. Here is how to clear them fast without burning through your credits.
The quick fix routine
- Click Try to fix on the error card. Lovable reads the logs and attempts a repair.
- Check the preview. If the same error is back, don't press Try to fix again and again.
- Write a clear message: what you did, where it breaks, what you expected and the exact error text.
- For an error that keeps returning, switch to Plan mode and ask Lovable to find the root cause first.
- If the project became unstable, revert to the last version that worked.
How the free fixes work
Your account gets 10 free fixes, shared between Try to fix and the Security view, across all your projects. Each one becomes available again 24 hours after you use it.
After that, Try to fix still works but uses normal credits — another reason to stop after one or two attempts and give Lovable better information.
A good error prompt
| Weak | Strong |
|---|---|
| “It's broken, fix it” | “After I added the signup form, the Dashboard page shows a white screen.” |
| “Error again” | “Same error as before: [pasted text]. It happens when I click Save.” |
| “Doesn't work” | “The price should show $29 but shows 0 on the Pricing page.” |
Errors that block publishing
If a failed build stops you publishing, the Publish window also shows Try to fix. Fix the error first, then publish again.
Prevent errors
- Ask for one feature at a time.
- Test after each change before asking for the next.
- Use Plan mode for big features so you agree the approach first.
- Keep GitHub connected as an extra backup.
Frequently asked questions
Is Try to fix free?
You get 10 free fixes, each refreshed 24 hours after use. After that, fixes use normal credits.
Why does the same error keep coming back?
The real cause is somewhere else. Use Plan mode to investigate before more changes.
Should I revert or keep fixing?
If two attempts fail or many parts broke, revert to the last working version.
Can I paste the error to Lovable?
Yes, pasting the exact error text and a screenshot gives the best results.
Do errors stop my live site?
No. Your live site keeps the last published version until you publish again.
